Politics has managed to wedge itself into just about every corner of life lately, and honestly, it’s exhausting. Not everything needs to be a referendum on ideology. Sometimes a football game is just a football game. Sometimes an awards show is just people in uncomfortable shoes thanking their agents.
I don’t tune in to be handed a talking point from any direction. And that’s part of what’s become frustrating, so many of the loudest “statements” feel less like conviction and more like career positioning. When public figures start sounding interchangeable depending on which audience benefits them most, it’s hard to take any of it seriously.
There’s nothing wrong with caring about issues. But there’s also nothing wrong with wanting a few hours where the only thing on the line is the score, the halftime spectacle, and whether the snacks run out before the fourth quarter.
At some point, we should be allowed to simply watch, not decode.
That is all the politics I will address on this site. Thank you for reading.
